The fourth edition of Catalunya Bike Race will be held on the first weekend of October and will recover its three-day format, from Friday to Sunday, with Puigcerdà being the nerve centre, hometown of José Antonio Hermida, the ambassador, as it has been in its previous editions. The Puigcerdà Sports Center will once again be the epicenter of what is already a well know Mountain Bike competition in Catalonia and Spain, and especially in La Cerdanya, an incomparable place to hold this stage modality.
The current circumstances force to take exceptional measures and it is for that same reason that it has been decided to return to the three-day format, recovering the initial spirit of the competition being held from Friday to Sunday, a very attractive format for more than 900 participants that the competition gathers in each edition. The weekend-format encourages families to plan a family getaway, getting to know La Cerdanya and its surroundings on a Mountain Bike, and also in a period where the pleasant temperatures allows you to do multiple activities during the weekend.
José Antonio Hermida will once again be the ambassador and the person in charge of designing the route of this fourth edition of Catalunya Bike Race. He will participate with you and will be directly involved in the organization as a sports consultant. The Olympic medalist anticipates that this edition will be "an edition with better trails if possible, with technical routes and with time to enjoy Mountain Bike ".
Thus, the collection of race numbers and the Expo Zone for all riders will take place on Friday morning; on the afternoon the competition will start with the first short stage. On Saturday, turn for the Queen Stage and on Sunday the last stage of this fourth edition will take place. A weekend of pure Mountain Bike in La Cerdanya.
From a competitive point of view, Catalunya Bike Race 2020 will stop being UCI XCS2 category (4 stages), as it has been in its last three editions, to be a 3-stage competition on the calendar of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation. This modification will facilitate the presence of bikers, being aware that, due to the exceptional situation this year, the competition schedule will be very congested.
In this way, Catalunya Bike Race 2020 will be held from October 2 to 4 in La Cerdanya. It will last three days and it will maintain the spirit that has featured the previous editions. All stages will be circular, with the start and the finish line at the Puigcerdà Sports Center.
Soon we will announce the opening date of registrations in the official channels of the competition.
