This is how each stage will be!

It will start with a time trial, followed by the queen stage and ending off with a route at La Molina’s Bike Park

The first edition of GAES Catalunya Bike Race presented by Shimano is just around the corner. From September 29th to October 1st, Bellver de Cerdanya (Lleida) will become the epicenter of the national MTB to host an individual three day MTB stage race, approved by the UCI as a XCS 2 class event. In total, 133 kilometers and 4.300 meters of climbing in the natural park sites of the Cadí-Moixeró. 

 

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 28th 

On Thursday, September 28th, the day before the start of the race, the Paddock will open at 6 p.m. and registration will begin at the same time, ending at 8.30 p.m.

 

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29th - STAGE 1 

On the morning of Friday September 29th, the Paddock will open its doors at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m., the second day of race registration will end. All riders must have collected their start numbers before that time to have the official lists ready. 

The first stage, 42,5 kilometers and 1.284 meters of climbing, will be a time trial. The Elite categories, both male and female, will take the start every thirty seconds in reverse order to their UCI ranking. All riders in the Master categories will be grouped in five Mountain Bikers, and will also start every half a minute.

The start will be at 2:00 p.m. and the order of categories will be as follows: Master Women, Elite Women, Master 50, Master 40, Master 30 and finally Male Elite. 

For safety reasons, in the last descent of the first stage there will be a very short stretch where it will be MANDATORY to dismount the bike and walk it. The organisation will exclude frorm the race anyone who does not respect this rule, without the option of being able to participate in the following stages. In kilometer 36, approximately, there will be signs and marshalls that will indicate the exact place, avoiding any possible confusion.

 

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30th - STAGE 2

The second stage will be the queen stage. The start will take place in Bellver de Cerdanya at 10 am and will be carried out by waves. Every five minutes, two start grids will de released. The starting grids will be arranged according to the overall general classification, with a start grid exclusive for women.

This queen stage will be the longest and most demanding; it will consist of 62,45 kilometers and 2.644 meters of cimbing. It will start with an asphalt climb before taking a long and fun stretch of singletrack, with downhills and climbs. After this, it will head Riu de Cerdanya, where the first great climb of the day will begin, entering the natural park of the Cadí. The riders will descend on trails before taking the second important climb of the day, and ending with a very long and enjoyable singletrack that will end in Pi, where the final stretch of the previous day will be repeated.

 

SUNDAY OCTOBER 1st - STAGE 3

The third and final stage willentirely take place in La Molina’s Bike Park. The start will be at 10 a.m. with the same format as the previous stage. 

It will be a short and very explosive stage, with a route of 27,95 kilometers and 1.250 meters of climbing. 

On Sunday, the Paddock located in La Molina, will open at 8.30 a.m. Start grids will open at 9.40 a.m. At 10 a.m. the Paddock in Bellver de Cerdanya will be closed. The distance from Bellver de Cerdanya to La Molina is about 20 kilometers, approximately 20 minutes by car. 

THE ORGANISATION RECOMMENDS THAT ALL RIDERS TAKE THEIR BICYCLE THE PREVIOUS NIGHT OR ON SUNDAY BEFORE 9.20 A.M.
