There will be battle!

GAES Catalunya Bike Race shifted by XTR 2018 will be tight

Francesc Guerra (BUFF®-Scott) will start with number one. The GAES Catalunya Bike Race shifted by XTR winner will defend his title against his team mate Enrique Morcillo (BUFF®-Scott), runner-up of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano and La Rioja Bike Race presented by Shimano 2018; Sergio Mantecón (Trek Factory Racing), winner of the last year’s final stage and current Spanish Cross Country (XCO) runner-up; Bolivian Ever Alejandro Gómez (Olympia Factory Cycling), third in La Rioja Bike Race presented by Shimano 2018; or Victor Manuel Fernández (Wolfbike), winner of MMR Asturias Bike Race.

Other men to look after will be French Victor Koretzky (KMC-Ekoi-SR Suntour) and Hugo Drechou (Massi); Finn Jukka Vastaranta (Croc Sports); and Spaniards Oliver Avilés (41 Team), Joan Llordella and Adrià Noguera (BUFF®-Scott), Roberto Bou and Cristofer Bosque (TBellès-Cannondale-GAES by Sural); Xavier Borràs and Jordi Espinar (Olympia Factory Cycling); Ramón Sagués and Josep Durán (Primaflor-Mondraker-Ajram-Rotor); Juan Pedro Trujillo (Berria-Bargosa Fruit); and the great José Antonio Hermida (Merida), worldwide mountain biking icon and GAES Catalunya Bike Race shifted by XTR ambassador.

 

WOMEN’S RECORD

The women’s category will again be numerous (83 registrants) and is expected to be tight. The list of main contenders is lead by Clàudia Galicia (Megamo), current Spanish Elite Cross Country (XCO) champion, and current champion and ambassador of GAES Catalunya Bike Race shifted by XTR. Behind her are those who podiumed with her last edition; Norwegian Hildegunn Gjertrud Hovdenak (VPG), winner of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano 2018 and runner-up, behind Galicia, at La Rioja Bike Race presented by Shimano 2018; and Natalia Fischer (TBellès-Cannondale-GAES by Sural), third last year and current Spanish MTB Marathon (XCM) champion.

Others with options are German Naima Madlen Diesner (Olympia Factory Cycling), runner-up of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano 2018; current Spanish Cross Country (XCO) champion and bronze at the Under 23 European Cross Country (XCO) Championship, Rocío del Alba (Primaflor-Mondraker-Ajram-Rotor); multiple Spanish MTB Marathon (XCM) champion Sandra Santanyes (Olympia Factory Cycling); or Mercè Pacios, fourth in past edition of GAES Catalunya Bike Race shifted by XTR. 

 

OTHER OUTSTANDING RIDERS

Among the registrants are also, MotoGP pilot, Aleix Espargaró; former Grand Prix pilots, Carlos y David Checa; renown Ultra Trail runner Núria Picas; and former Olympic cyclist Dori Ruano.
